SMCC Women's Basketball Falls to Arizona Western

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 78-36 to Arizona Western on Feb. 4 in an ACCAC game at the SMCC Gym. Freshman Jolie King scored a season-high 14 points and Genesis Adams added 12 points and nine rebounds, but the Matadors led 48-22 at halftime and posted a 30-14 second half time win the contest. 

SMCC shot 23.1 percent (9-of-39) from the field and 88.9 percent (16-of-18) from the free throw line. The Cougars had 28 rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks in the loss. 

King finished 5-of-17 from the field, had one 3-pointer and made three free throws. Adams was 2-of-8 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line, and six of her nine rebounds came on the offensive glass. 

Freshman Daziane Stevenson had three points, five rebounds and an assist, and freshman Carmen Kittrell had three points and two rebounds.
