Genesis Adams Earns All-ACCAC, All-Region I Division II Honors

Sophomore Genesis Adams earned Third Team All-ACCAC and Second Team All-Region I Division II honors after a sensational 2022-23 season for the South Mountain CC women's basketball team. Adams led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding for the year, averaging 14.8 points and 8.9 rebounds in 28 games. Against ACCAC opponents, Adams averaged 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 22 contests. 

Adams finished among the league's top 10 in scoring and rebounding for the season. Among Region I Division II players, Adams led all in rebounding and finished second in scoring for her season totals. Her conference averages also ranked among the top in both scoring and rebounding. She also finished fourth among conference players in field goal percentage at 49 percent (144-of-294), and her conference shooting percentage of 45.5 percent ranked eighth. 

Adams scored a season-high 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting in a win over Justice College on Nov. 16. Against a league opponent, Adams scored a season-high 28 points in a contest at Glendale CC on Dec. 7. She posted six games of 20 or more points, including 22 in the season finale against Mesa CC on Feb. 28. 

Adams recorded seven double-doubles on the season and had a season-high 18 rebounds in a win over Justice College on Nov. 16. She also had 18 rebounds in a win over the Park-Gilbert JV squad on Dec. 16, and she posted 16 boards in a home game against Glendale CC on Feb. 1. 

She recorded a season-high six assists in a win over Community Christian CC and three steals against Phoenix College. Adams finished with a season-high three blocks on three occasions.
