The South Mountain Community College women's soccer team (0-6-1, 0-3-1 ACCAC) lost 6-1 at Mesa CC in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contest on Sept. 12. Freshman Keyla Garcia scored her team-leading third goal of the season and freshman Marian Oliva made 13 saves in goal for the Cougars.
Garcia ended the contest's scoring with a goal in the 89th minute. In seven matches this season, she has a team-high three goals, six points and nine shots on goal. Sophomores Alicia Nicholson and Valeria Rodriguez each had two shots for SMCC.
SMCC finished the contest with 10 shots, two corner kicks and five fouls. Oliva faced 31 shots from the Thunderbirds and made six saves in the first half and seven in the second.
