Bio

Liam O’Shea was named South Mountain Community College women’s soccer head coach prior to the start of the 2021 season. A longtime high school coach with local ties to club teams and a former semi-professional player, O’Shea hopes to establish the Cougars as a soccer destination for student-athletes.

Currently, O’Shea serves as the girls’ varsity head coach at North Canyon High School in Phoenix. Since joining the program in 2010, O’Shea has turned the Rattlers into a consistent winner. He has helped 13 players move onto intercollegiate athletics and he oversees all aspects of the program. He also works as a US History and AP US History teacher at the school.

O’Shea also worked for the Sereno Soccer Club for several years, coaching a host of age-group squads. He also served as the head coach of the ASU women’s soccer club team and he also spent two years at the head varsity coach at Desert Mountain High School. 

O’Shea also has worked as a junior varsity coach at Chaparral and worked with Cisco Soccer Club and McDowell Mountain Ranch Soccer Club.

He holds a United Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Diploma, a United Soccer Coaches National Diploma, a US Soccer Federation National D License and a NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate.

O’Shea graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s of History in 2002. He later received a Master’s of Military History from Norwich University in 2011 and a Secondary Education Teacher’s Certificate from Rio Salado College. He played for the Tucson Fireballs of the United States Indoor Soccer League.
