Bio

Jake Sommer was named SMCC women's soccer head coach in July 2024. A talented goalkeeper, Sommer brings 15 years of coaching experience and 14 years of playing experience to SMCC in his new position. 

Sommer joins the Cougars as an accomplished coach in the Phoenix area. He is currently the head coach of the FC Batavia 08 Navy First Team, a position he started in 2023. He has also served on the FC Batavia Board of Directors and was the head coach of the 08 Orange Second Team. 

Sommer prepped at Apollo High School in Phoenix, earning all-state and all-region honors, and played two seasons as a goalkeeper at Glendale Community College. He also played in several Indoor Soccer Leagues. 

Sommer holds a US Soccer License Class D and has a US Soccer Grassroots License for 7 v 7, 9 v 9, and 11 v 11 competition.
