SMCC Volleyball Announces Four-Year Transfers
June 26, 2023
The South Mountain Community College volleyball programs announced its four-year transfers for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. Emily Wilson (University of St. Katherine), Kristine Garcia (Colorado Mesa University), and Andy Sanchez (Concordia University-Wisconsin) will continue their intercollegiate careers elsewhere but will be Cougars forever.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Places Fourth at Inaugural NJCAA Championships

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team placed fourth at the inaugural NJCAA National Championships on April 20-22 at Hickory Point Beach Park in Tavares, Fla. The Cougars went 3-1 over their first four matches to advance to the Final Four and finished the season with a 13-15 overall record.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Earns No. 7 Seed at NJCAA Championships

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team earned the No. 7 seed in the 2023 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship April 20-22 at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares, Fla. SMCC will square off against No. 2 Richard Bland College (VA) and No. 10 State College of Florida in the opening round of the tournament.

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team lost 4-1 to Mesa CC in a dual match at Gene Autry Park in Mesa, Ariz. Freshmen Rylee Pitts and Nichole Gary won a three-set thriller on the No. 3 court to score the Cougars' lone point of the day.

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team posted a 5-0 victory over Trinidad State (CO) and narrowly fell 3-2 to Park-Gilbert in a pair of matches on Mar. 20. All five Cougar pairs posted straight-set wins over the Trojans, while freshmen Nichole Gary and Rylee Pitts and Emee Fellens and Shandi Allison posted wins over the Buccaneers.

Cougar head coach Patrick Mooney noted that SMCC played outstanding in their two contests as they improved to 4-4 on the season.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Makes History with Win over Benedictine-Mesa

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team defeated Benedicitine-Mesa 3-2 on Friday, Feb. 24, to give the program its first-ever win over a four-year university. The Cougars' No.3, 4, and 5 pairs all won in straight sets as the Cougars celebrated the historic feat.

Freshman Shandi Allison and Hannah Van Winkle recorded the Cougars' first dual victory of the season with a three-set victory as the No. 5 pairs in the second contest against the Spirit.

The Cougars' No. 3 pairs of Nichole Gary and Rylee Pitts and the No. 4 pairs of Alexa Wasil and Emee Fellens played in a third and decisive set before eventually falling to the Redhawks.
