The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (5-13, 0-8 ACCAC) lost 64-37 to Glendale CC on Jan. 15 and 77-51 to Phoenix College on Jan. 18 in a pair of ACCAC contests. Sophomore forward Auak Jok scored a season-high 19 points, freshman DeeDee Medlock scored 11, and sophomore forward Nei'Shae Clegg grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest with the Bears.

SMCC trailed 42-15 at halftime but rallied to a 22-22 draw in the second half. The Cougars shot 24.2 percent (15 of 62) from the field, totaling 34 rebounds, eight assists, and 11 steals in the loss.
Jok led SMCC with eight points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes. Medlock was second on the squad with seven points, and she added five rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench.
Clegg posted five points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes off the bench, and sophomore forward Rahimeh Salaam produced six points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 25 minutes.

SMCC fell 77-51 to the Bears in a home ACCAC contest on Jan. 18. The Cougars trailed 30-23 at halftime and lost 47-28 in the second half. They shot 30.6 percent (19 of 62) from the floor and totaled 38 rebounds, nine assists, 12 steals, and two blocks in defeat.
Jok was 6 of 15 from the floor and connected on four 3-pointers in 38 minutes to match her season best with 19 points. She added five rebounds, one steal, and one block.
Medlock was second on the team with 11 points and added four rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes off the bench. Clegg led SMCC with 10 rebounds and added three points and two rebounds in 31 minutes.
Salaam finished with eight points and five rebounds, and sophomore guard Leslie Aguirre posted seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
