Bio
Simone Holmes was named an SMCC women's basketball assistant coach in October 2023.
Most recently, Holmes served as an assistant coach at the Academy of Math and Science in Avondale.
Holmes is a former Cougar who spent two seasons (2009-10, 2010-11) with the women's basketball program. She earned All-Region I Division II honors during her time at SMCC.
Following her time at SMCC, Holmes transferred to Cal Baptist University. In 2011-12, she averaged 13 points and 1.3 steals per game as the team finished 20-5 overall.
As a senior in 2012-13, Holmes led the team in scoring at 15.6 ppg and also had a team-high 75 steals. She received NCAA National Player of the Year and NCCAA West Region Player of the Year honors, and also earned All-PacWest and NCCAA All-Tournament Team awards. She graduated from Cal Baptist with a degree in Psychology.
Holmes played one season of professional basketball in Iceland for KR Reykjavik, averaging 20 points, four rebounds and two steals in the 2014-15 season. She attended South Mountain High School in Phoenix where she averaged 16 ppg and helped lead her team to the 2008 Arizona State Championship as a senior.
