SMCC Men's Basketball Falls to Pima CC

The South Mountain Community College men's basketball team (5-5, 2-1 ACCAC) fell 93-58 to Pima CC in an ACCAC road game on Dec. 4. Freshman Jayden Potts led SMCC with 14 points and fellow freshman David Jackson added 13 points off the bench. Still, the Aztecs prevailed in both halves to hand the Cougars their first conference loss. 

SMCC trailed 46-30 after 20 minutes of play and fell 47-28 in the second half. The Cougars shot 33.8 percent (24 of 71) from the floor, totaling 41 rebounds, eight assists, eight steals, and four blocks. 

Potts was 7 of 16 from the floor, adding six rebounds and a steal in 31 minutes. Jackson finished 5 of 9 from the field and knocked down two 3-pointers in 15 minutes. He added a rebound and a steal, and the 13 points were his second-most on the year. 

Sophomore Cash Callaway posted eight points, two 3-pointers, two rebounds, three steals, and an assist in 28 minutes. Sophomore Jacob Taylor had seven points, four rebounds, a block, and an assist in 26 minutes. 

Sophomore Jayven Driscoll had six rebounds in 19 minutes, and freshman Drew Hoxie produced four points, two rebounds, and two blocks in 19 minutes. Sophomore Nathan Robinson had seven rebounds, three assists, three points, one steal, and one block in 19 minutes.
