Freshman Janae Byrd scored a career-high 20 points for the SMCC women's basketball team in their contest at Mesa CC on Jan. 27. She finished 7 of 19 from the field and made 3 of 4 attempts from beyond the 3-point line. Byrd also made 3 of 4 attempts from the charity stripe and added four rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 38 minutes. She has two games with seven steals this season and is averaging 6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.8 assists in 16 games this season.
