Bio

Rick Wade has served as Head Athletic Trainer at SMCC since 2018.  He oversees the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all SMCC sports.

He is an expert in Active Release Techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques, Joint Mobilizations, Movement Analysis, Rehabilitation, Implement Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (scraping), Decompression Therapy (cupping), Postural Restoration Institute, Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, and Nutrition coaching.

 Wade has 15 years of community college experience, having worked at two previous colleges.  During that time, he assisted his teams to approximately 40 national tournaments, six team national championships and several Track & Field individual national champions. 

 Wade earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Vanguard University in 2004 while competing for the men’s soccer team.  As an undergraduate, he gained valuable experience working primarily with the basketball and soccer teams.

 He earned his Master’s Degree from A.T. Still University in Sports Healthcare in 2007 following two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Chandler- Gilbert Community College. He gained additional experience in volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball while working with Coyote student-athletes.
